BAPTISMS

Baptism is a welcome into the Christian family. At the heart of a christening is water, blessed in the church’s font and poured over your child’s head.

There is prayer, a candle, and promises made by parents and godparents. Together, the church promises to support your child as they grow in faith.

We would be glad to talk with you about the service and help you take the first step.

FUNERALS

When someone dies, there can be so much to think about. St Margaret’s offers friendship, prayer and support before, during and after a funeral.

A Church of England funeral is available whether or not the person attended church. A minister will listen to your memories and help you plan a service that honours the person you knew.

A service may be held in church, at a crematorium, in a cemetery or at a woodland burial site. We can talk through the arrangements with you.

WEDDINGS

A wedding at St Margaret’s brings your story together with prayer, tradition and God’s blessing. The church is more than a setting for one day; it is a community that will be here for you afterwards.

Work with the minister to make choices about music, readings and the ceremony, reflecting what matters to you as a couple.

Whether you are beginning to plan a wedding or would like to discuss a blessing, the church office will help you start the conversation.

PASTORAL CARE

Care for one another is part of our life as a church. You are welcome to ask for support in a difficult season, or simply when you would appreciate someone to listen.

Our Pastoral Care Team offers conversation, prayer and support through significant life events. The team also visits people who are unwell or housebound and can bring home communion when you cannot attend church.

Small groups offer an ongoing place to belong and support one another. You can also ask to speak with Nathan, our vicar, about a particular concern.

THE CHRISTENING SERVICE

The minister prays for your child and for the people who will support them. Parents and godparents make promises about helping their child grow in faith.

The sign of the cross may be made with oil, and water from the font marks the baptism itself. Everyone promises their continuing support.

A candle is given as a reminder to shine as a light in the world. The church office can explain the service and answer your questions.

A PERSONAL FUNERAL SERVICE

The minister will listen to your memories and help plan a personal tribute. Family and friends can share the story of the person’s life, alongside chosen readings and music.

The service includes Christian hope, prayer, time for reflection and a farewell. Photographs, flowers or meaningful objects can help express something of the person you loved.

You do not need to make every decision at once. We will talk through each part with you.

VISITS AND HOME COMMUNION

Being unwell or housebound need not mean losing touch with the church community. Our Pastoral Care Team can arrange a visit, conversation or prayer.
